Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle!
Hong Kong Disneyland’s five year expansion program continues with the latest attraction, a target shooting ride called Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle! This attraction replaced the Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, which closed about a year ago. The Nano Battle attraction fits in nicely with Tomorrowland’s Iron Man Experience and Iron Man Showcase.
During the recent Media and Fan Event, Paul Rudd – the Ant-Man himself, came to Hong Kong to open the attraction for the press and dedicated fans.
I was lucky enough to head over to the Park for most of the day and managed to get a pretty bad sunburn (the humidity melted my sunscreen right off my face I think) and I got to say oh hey Paul when Paul Rudd walked past me the second of three times I came into close contact with him. I mean really, what else could I have said? Telling this man who just turned 50 that he still looks under 30 is what everyone tells him I think… I wanted to stand out. And be awkward. It’s my calling…
The attraction itself is tons of fun, and even the queue has much to see, with little nods to Hong Kong and Hong Kong Disneyland. The scientist character on the left in the image below is Leslie Lam, Chief Engineer of the S.H.I.E.L.D. Science & Technology Pavilion. She is played by famous local Hong Kong actress Jessica Hsuan. Her dialogue is mostly in Cantonese, but if you look at the screen below her, it captions her words into English and simplified Chinese characters for the guests who speak Mandarin. On the desk you can see an egg tart, a local Hong Kong snack, missing a bite (it wasn’t me!) and spilled coffee (tragic!).
Jessica Hsuan is stunningly gorgeous in real life… and while Paul Rudd got a bit of a buzz from the crowd of local fans, Jessica got a much louder response! I’m sad to say that before this day I wasn’t familiar with her work, but I’m making it a priority now! Her cameo in the queue and attraction is quite funny.
My husband and I were also treated to a private preview after the Media Event, so we simply had to take the same photo as Jessica and Paul. Funny, we had approximately zero screaming fans chanting our names… though the group of four lucky teenagers we brought along with us were pretty excited for the VIP treatment (and for the cash we gave them for ice cream)!
If you buy a ticket to Hong Kong Disneyland right now, it currently features Ant-Man and the Wasp, along with Guide Maps and Times Guides with art of the characters. Plus, Hong Kong Disneyland generously gives out free stickers (just ask any Cast Member!), and they’ve now introduced the new stickers seen below!
The other VIP’s who were at Hong Kong Disneyland on the day of the Media Event were Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios (wearing the black cap), and Peyton Reed, director of Ant-Man and its sequel, Ant-Man and The Wasp (wearing glasses). I’m super curious to know if Jessica and Paul actually tried to shoot the targets in the attraction, or if they just sat there and took in all the stunning details throughout!
In the attraction, you work with Ant-Man and the Wasp to destroy the Nano Bots, while Iron Man himself is over in another part of Hong Kong fending off a different attack. I love how both this new ride and the Iron Man Experience in Tomorrowland are part of the same story line, and that it all takes place right here where I live!
The new managing director of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, Stephanie Young, was also part of the day’s festivities, on stage with all the Marvel guests. She was just appointed on February 1st – what a great first major event!
Of course what would a new attraction be without the souvenirs? I found some great Marvel merchandise in the newly opened Pavilion Gifts store, including forty exclusive items only available at Hong Kong Disneyland! You can even build your own gauntlet themed to your favorite Avenger.
I did have a chat with a few of the Imagineers who created this attraction, and got the full download on how to score maximum points. Now I won’t tell you here how to get to a million points, but if you come to Hong Kong and hang out with me at Hong Kong Disneyland, I can sure show you!
After the opening of Moana: A Homecoming Celebration in 2018, and this years Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle!, we can look forward to three additional major attractions in the pipeline for Hong Kong Disneyland in the next few years. I’m so excited to see them all. Let me know if you’re planning a visit soon! We recently re-watched both Ant-Man and the sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp in preparation for Avengers: Endgame. And yes, when Paul Rudd came on screen, I did say oh hey Paul, nice to see you again to my TV. Because not only am I awkward, I’m gifted at cracking myself up!
For discount tickets to Hong Kong Disneyland, I recommend the Klook app and website. And if you’ve never used Klook before, you can get a bonus of $39 HKD for using my link here. Enjoy!

You’re amazing! I love your post! I would probably say the same thing to Paul Rudd if I met him too! I love the new attraction too!
